Latest News: firework update II

1 fireworks can now be applied to rooms of the house, however wallpapers themselves have not been - and never will be - updated for application to forum posts. again, wallpaper items are relatively common, and plaza posts backgrounds should remain special, I feel. if there are some wallpaper images that we would really like to see available for plaza posts, new firework items can be made.

2 people pointed out in the previous announcement thread that there are a few "fireworks" that are given to you outside of normal item use... prominent examples include the "zaap" effect from Halloween, and the Prismatic Fountain. these effects are placed directly into your "readied fireworks" list - not through a fireworks item - and so you never get the option to apply them to your profile! sad!

rather than update all of these things to allow application to profile backgrounds (which would feel very forced, especially in the case of the zaap ("zaap the alien like a firework? or zaap him on your profile?")), I am going to update profiles so that, from your own profile, you can apply any readied firework. once this is done, I will remove the option from fireworks to apply directly to your profile, since you'll be able to do it from your profile in a way that lets you preview the graphic before application - much better! this will also serve to catch any other weird-case firework effects that we may have forgotten about, and any that might be made in the future.

About PsyPets

In PsyPets you take care of strange (and cute?)-looking pets, chat with other players, prepare food, and collect rare items. Started in late March of 2004, PsyPets is still worked on, adding more items and features with player input.

PsyPets is not like other pet games:

  • It's about how you raise your pets, and what they are capable of doing. You do not beat up monsters, your pets do. You do not find rare treasures, your pets do.
  • It's a simulation. The pets' behaviors are defined by Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, personality theory, and common sense. Your pets eat, grow, and give birth. They can and will die if not properly cared for.
  • It's a place to meet other people and talk about whatever you want to talk about. (Just don't break the law, kids! Parents: you may lock your child's account out of the discussion boards if you so choose.)

Requirements to Play

In short, PsyPets is a web browser-based game in which Javascript and cookies are used, but Java and Flash are not. PsyPets has been tested to work on most modern browsers. For more information, visit the Requirements to Play page (on the PsyPets wiki).

And Hey

Thanks a lot for playing. It's great to see that there are lots of people that are really getting into a game that I created Have fun.
